The School Pollinator Art Competition, run by the Wheen Bee Foundation, provides students with the opportunity to learn about pollination and explore the vital role pollinators play in the environment and food production through art.

The winners of the primary and secondary school categories will each receive an individual Bees Are Amazing gift hamper and certificate valued at more than $100, along with a $500 voucher to The Centre for Bee Education for a teacher of their choice.

Wheen Bee Foundation CEO Fiona Chambers said she is excited to see the return of the competition after the success of its first year in 2025.

“We saw some amazing artwork from students across the country celebrating the rich diversity of Australian pollinators,” Ms Chambers said.

“It’s fantastic to see students shining a light on the pollinators that are often easy to overlook, and helping others appreciate the important role they play.”

The Wheen Bee Foundation has a strong focus on education, with the Centre for Bee Education providing teacher resources and Bee Education Learning Kits to help students learn about pollinators and biodiversity.

Schools are encouraged to participate in the competition and attend the Pollinator Art Webinar hosted by Amelie Ecology, a science educator and artist with a PhD on native bees.

Amelie said the competition was an opportunity for students to combine curiosity about the natural world with creativity.

“This art competition is an invitation for young people to get curious about native landscapes, notice the insects in their backyards and share the beauty of our pollinators through creativity,” Amelie said.

“I’m excited to see through the eyes of our young ecologists.”

The webinar will provide students with information about pollinators, the opportunity to ask questions and celebrate the creativity of all the students who entered.

The School Pollinator Art Competition runs in the lead-up to Australian Pollinator Week, 7-15 November.

Winners will be announced during the Pollinator Art Webinar on Tuesday, 10 November 2026 at 10am AEDT.
