Wheen Bee Foundation recently published a Teachers’ Guide to Bees. The Guide was developed in response to the 2021 Junior Landcare Grants that offered a Bee Bonus enabling schools to purchase and install a bee hive. We wanted to support teachers’ desire and intentions to incorporate bees into the curriculum by helping them understand the risks and responsibilities of owning a bee hive and be equipped to make an informed decision. The Guide provides teachers with a practical decision making framework that encourages responsible beekeeping and suggests a range of ways to integrate bees into the curriculum without necessarily owning a hive.
