Wheen Bee Foundation appoints new Program Manager

The Wheen Bee Foundation is excited to announce the appointment of Rowena Danks as Program Manager.
As an experienced project coordinator in the agriculture industry, Rowena is eager to start her new role overseeing the Foundation’s long list of programs and projects that deliver for people and pollinators.
“I have always admired the Foundation’s work in championing pollinator health, supporting research and engaging with the community,” Rowena says.

“I am thrilled to join the team and contribute to meaningful work that makes a difference for farmers, producers and the broader community.”

Rowena’s lifelong love of animals sparked her early interest in ensuring their wellbeing and shaped her career path. Inspired by a special interest in horses, Rowena spent time in the United States and France working in natural horsemanship.
“I have always been passionate about improving outcomes for landscapes, animals, and people by embracing nature’s balance,” Rowena says.

After returning to Australia, Rowena completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science majoring in Conservation Management at Charles Sturt University.

Rowena has also spent extensive time working in South Australia with livestock crop and horticulture producers supporting them with regenerative agriculture projects and community engagement.
“Working in the horticulture industry is where I developed my appreciation for bees,” Rowena says. “I learned how critical it is to ensure there are secure floral resources for pollinators, especially during drought, and how that directly impacts the industry.”
Now, as the Wheen Bee Foundation’s Program Manager, Rowena will have her hands full managing the Foundation’s array of programs and research projects.
“I am eager to link people together such as farmers, beekeepers, researchers and schools so that we can support pollinator health as a collective,” Rowena says.
“Pollinators are currently under threat which is why all sectors must work together.”
The Wheen Bee Foundation’s projects and programs include education, research and national events all to raise awareness of the importance of bees for food security and raises funds for research that addresses the national and global threats to bees.
