Have your say on Australia’s first Pollination Strategy

A national consultation has opened to help shape Australia’s first Pollination Strategy, a nationally coordinated approach to supporting a resilient and sustainable future for pollination in Australia.

The consultation provides an opportunity for beekeepers, growers, land managers, researchers, industry representatives, gardeners, community groups and the broader community to share their knowledge, experiences and ideas to help guide the future of pollination in Australia.

Australian Pollination Strategy Program Manager Tracie Armstrong said the consultation provides an opportunity to bring together perspectives from across Australia.

“Pollination is fundamental to Australia’s agriculture, biodiversity, ecosystems and socio-cultural values, and this consultation will help shape a strategy that reflects the priorities and opportunities for pollination across Australia,” Ms Armstrong said.

The consultation follows the release of the Pollination Security Status Report 2026, the first holistic assessment of Australia’s pollination system.

The report provides a baseline for understanding the current state of pollination in Australia and includes modelling to explore the impacts of varroa mite.

“The Pollination Security Status Report 2026 provides an important starting point, but the experiences and expertise of people across Australia are essential in identifying the actions needed for the future,” Ms Armstrong said.

People can participate by completing an online survey, providing a written submission or attending one of the upcoming online drop-in sessions.

Complete the online survey

The online survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and asks about the role of pollination in your area, the importance of different pollinators and the priorities that should be considered in the Strategy.

The survey closes on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

Join an online drop-in session

As part of the consultation, the Australian Pollination Strategy will host two one-hour online drop-in sessions featuring Program Manager Tracie Armstrong.

The sessions provide an opportunity to ask questions about the project, share feedback and contribute ideas to help shape the Australian Pollination Strategy.
