Foundation appoints new Program Manager to lead the Australian Pollination Strategy

The Wheen Bee Foundation is excited to announce Tracie Armstrong as the new Australian Pollination Strategy Program Manager.

Tracie has 20 years’ experience working in the sustainability and tertiary education sector and is eager to make her mark on Australia’s pollination future.

“Pollination isn’t given anywhere near the attention it deserves for how important it is for food security and biodiversity,” Tracie says.

“I am looking forward to working with everyone involved in pollination whether that’s farmers, environmental groups or local communities, it’s so important that everyone has a chance to have a say and be heard.”

Tracie is an accomplished sustainability and climate change advocate and holds a Bachelor of Social Science from James Cook University, an Honours degree in Anthropology and a Masters of Sustainability from Monash University.

Tracie’s career has been shaped by a love for nature, which was strengthened during her time in Sumatra, one of the Sunda Islands west of Indonesia, and while she was living in Far North Queensland’s Daintree region.

“I fell in love with the jungle while conducting field work in Sumatra,” Tracie says. “It led me to living in the Daintree Rainforest and pursuing work in climate-related industries.”

Since returning to Australia, Tracie has had extensive experience working in local government, shaping and executing climate change and sustainability policies. She added to her experience in the field while working at the Climate Council on Australia’s largest local government climate program, to drive the transition to a zero-emissions future.

Most recently, Tracie led the strategic stakeholder engagement strategy for the Land Use Futures program at Climateworks, an independent not-for-profit within Monash University.

In her new role as the Australian Pollination Strategy Program Manager, Tracie is excited to connect with the vast array of organisations and communities impacted by pollination.

“There are so many people who have an extraordinary amount of knowledge and passion for pollination,” Tracie says. “I am excited to learn more and work together to improve pollination security.”

As Program Manager, Tracie will oversee the successful development and implementation of the Australian Pollination Strategy, which aims to create an informed, strategic and coordinated approach to Australia’s pollination supply.
